#HOLLER Gala Dinner Raises R100,000 to Combat Human Trafficking and Gender-Based Violence

The Urgency in Numbers
South Africa continues to grapple with alarming rates of abuse and exploitation. These statistics reflect lived realities and underscore the urgent need for awareness, support, education and systemic change, the driving force behind the #HOLLER Campaign and Gala Dinner:
• 33.1% of women aged 18+ have experienced physical violence
• 83 people trafficked in South Africa in one year (official stats; actual numbers likely higher)
• 443 unaccompanied Zimbabwean children intercepted at the SA-Zimbabwe border
• 1 in 6 adult males in South Africa have experienced sexual offences
• 44% of boys report sexual abuse before age 18
• 40% of gay men report sexual violence other than rape
• R10 billion: Estimated annual cost of GBV to South Africa’s economy

A Night of Purpose and Generosity
Hosted at the elegant Bullion Room in Gold Reef City, the #HOLLER Gala Dinner successfully raised R100,000 in donations to empower the vital work of SOJO Helping Hands Foundation, Matrix Men, Open Disclosure, and Epic Foundation in combating gender-based violence. The event brought together business leaders, creatives, and community champions for an unforgettable evening of reflection, education, and collective action in the fight against gender-based violence.

“This wasn’t just about raising funds, it was about raising voices, building bridges, and standing united with those who’ve endured and those who continue to fight for change. To each company who sponsored towards #HOLLER, your generosity and belief in this cause made the #HOLLER Gala Dinner not only possible, but profoundly impactful.” said Hester Smith, Centre Manager at Mall of the South.

The success of the evening was made possible through generous contributions from:
