Recycle, Reimagine, Renew: Sculpture Competition for a Sustainable Future

Are you an aspiring artist in Gauteng? This is your chance to showcase your talent and make an impact with the Recycle, Reimagine, Renew Sculpture Competition.

Create a unique, thought-provoking sculpture that gives new life to discarded objects, transforming waste into art.

We’re looking for original sculptures between 1.5M and 2M tall, made from repurposed materials such as wood, metal, plastic, or glass. Your work should creatively reflect the theme of sustainability and recycling, emphasizing the power of renewal and reuse.

How to Enter:

• Submit a photograph of your sculpture along with a short description (200 words max) explaining your concept and materials used via email to holly@mallmarketing.co.za

Ensure your artwork is original and aligns with the theme of sustainability.

Key Dates:

• Submission Deadline: 17 October – 25 November 2024
• Semi- Final announcement – 2 December 2024
• Display Period: 3 December 2024 – 1 February 2024 at Mall of the South
• Grand prize announcement- 5 February 2024

Prizes:

• Your sculpture could be selected as one of 10 finalists to be displayed at Mall of the South from 3 December – 1 February.
• Stand to win 1 of 2 R20,000 cash prizes and have your sculpture displayed at the mall entrance permanently.

Selecting process:

• Semi-Final Selection 2nd December:
  An external judge will carefully review all submissions and select 10 semi-finalists. These finalists' sculptures will be displayed at Mall of the South from 3 December to 1 February.
• Customer Voting 3 December – 1 February:
  Each sculpture will be displayed with a QR code, allowing shoppers and visitors to vote for their favourite. The top 4 sculptures with the most votes will move to the final round.
• Final Round 2 February:
  An external judge will evaluate the top 4 sculptures with the most votes and select 2 grand prize winners. Both will receive R20,000 cash prizes and the opportunity to have their work permanently displayed at the mall entrance.

This competition celebrates the power of art to inspire change. We encourage bold, creative, and original interpretations that showcase the potential of recycling and sustainability.
